Time has not stood still at Den Gyldene Freden. Life is constantly present. But for those who look closer, there are traces of the times and people who have passed. Stockholm and the world have met here for 300 years, and they continue to meet here. Swedish cuisine has always borrowed from the rest of the world. And that’s what we continue to do now as well.

The Swedish nature changes with the seasons, and so do the people. Each season has its set table. Nettles and asparagus lie side by side, just like apple and goose. The crayfish have their own place, but herring can be found everywhere. At Den Gyldene Freden, we celebrate Swedish culinary traditions and make them accessible to everyone.
The facade of Den Gyldene Freden has witnessed revolutions in France and Russia, nine symphonies by Beethoven, the invention of the telephone, two world wars, Darwin’s “On the Origin of Species,” Star Wars, and much more. Inside these walls, a completely different history has been written, not entirely separate from the outside world but still its own.
We have tables available for small and large groups, for everyday dining and for special occasions.
For groups of up to 8 people, you can book through our online reservation system. In “The Storm” – our dining room on the ground floor – you can book for up to 6 people, and in “The Vaults of the Old Town”, you can book for up to 8 people.
